Unless you have been living under a WiFi-free rock for the past year or so, you would have noticed a heavy sprinkling of dirt-resembling body-scrub covering the beautiful bodies of your Instagram feed.
This derma logically friendly coffee sensation is called frank body, and one of its five co-founders is the fabulous Jess Hatzis.
As someone who has brought happiness to the showers and skin-cells of so many babes (and no doubt blokes) over the past two years of business, we speak frankly with Jess about puppies, inversions, purple hair and other things that make her happy!

HS: WHERE IS YOUR ULTIMATE HAPPY PLACE?
JH: I was in my happy place today and it was the perfect set up for finishing these questions: lying down, in the sun, with music in my ears.
IF YOU ARE NOT PHYSICALLY THERE WHAT DO YOU DO TO HELP INVOKE IT?
If you see me shaking my head weirdly, that’s me trying to shake myself happy. Otherwise I play soul music really loudly and dance and sing wildly like every movie cliché ever.
WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RISK YOU HAVE TAKEN IN THE NAME OF HAPPINESS?
Quitting my job with no savings. Zip, zilch, nada.
DID IT PAY OFF?
In a bigger way than I could have ever imagined. Now I run two businesses with my closest friends, favourite brains and wonderful staff.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE WORLD WILL LOOK LIKE WHEN EVERYONE IS DOING WHAT THEY LOVE?
Poor in dollars, rich in smiles. And I think the latter is more important.
WHO IS THE HAPPIEST PERSON YOU KNOW?
The happiest living being I know is a puppy. Actually, all puppies.
WHAT’S THE GREATEST THING THEY HAVE TAUGHT YOU?
That the simple things in life are usually the best. Have you seen how excited they get about a stick? It’s so great.
TALK US THROUGH A HAPPY DAY FOR YOU…WHAT’S INVOLVED OR PERHAPS NOT INVOLVED?
A happy day is one that I wake up feeling good from the get-go.
We all have those days, when for one reason or another we wake up feeling a bit off. So it’s always nice to start off on the right foot.
Besides that, I have a routine that I love to follow: exercise every morning – often a run, followed by a good breakfast and coffee.
No traffic on the way to the office definitely aids happiness levels too.
What’s not involved? Other people’s bad moods. I really can’t handle toxic people.
DO YOU HAVE A LIFE MOTTO?
Que sera sera. I’ve actually got it written permanently on my arm. It’s a lesson to myself – a constant reminder that I can’t control everything, to let go and learn to love the ride.
WHAT’S A SIMPLE PICK UP THAT WORKS FOR YOU EVERY TIME?
In lieu of being able to lie outside in the sun, I like to lie on the floor with my legs up on the wall. A few minutes away from my computer to decompress helps a lot. I stretch and it literally feels like I’m stretching out the tension.
WHEN YOU WERE A KID, WHAT DID YOU ENJOY DOING MOST?
Climbing trees: big ones, small ones, ones that could barely hold my weight or ones that took me high above the entire neighbourhood. I loved it.
ARE THERE ANY ELEMENTS OF THAT IN YOUR WORK TODAY?
I climb a spiral staircase every day, does that count?
I always try to do chin ups on the beams above my desk. I suck at them.
But now that I think about it, I hang off things, climb things, swing on things all the time…oh dear.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’D LOVE TO TELL YOUR 8-YEAR-OLD SELF?
Don’t waste your time with boys until they’re old enough to know how to cook. So…never. Keep climbing trees. They don’t let you down as much.
AND YOUR 80-YEAR-OLD SELF?
I hope you’re that purple-haired bad-ass I always hoped you’d be.
WHO HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST CHEERLEADER?
My baby sister. She has always been so supportive of me and is constantly proud of everything I do.
WHOSE GREATEST CHEERLEADER ARE YOU?
I hope I’m hers. I want nothing more than for her to be happy.
PLEASE FINISH THESE SENTENCES:
IF I WASN’T AFRAID I WOULD… Try to fly. But that’s going to end badly.
I COME ALIVE WHEN… I hear music I love. Or someone puts chocolate in front of me.
EVERYDAY I… Reflect. I have a journal that I write in every night before I sleep. I write down three things that made me happy that day. It helps me see that even the shitty days aren’t so shitty.
IF I RULED THE WORLD… I don’t want to rule the world. I like to explore it instead.
